Registration Information
If you or someone you know does not currently hold a high school diploma or a High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED/GED©), we encourage you to register and attend classes with Oconee Adult Education. To register for classes, you must complete the following online forms:
If you are unable to complete the forms online, you may complete paper copies in person at Oconee Adult Education. Please contact OAE to schedule an appointment. Upon completion of all three forms, the registrar will contact you to schedule a date/time to come in to complete the registration process.
During your registration appointment, you will:
- Provide a valid SC Driver’s License, SC ID, or US passport
- Make arrangements to pay registration fees ($50 per session)
- Meet with either Youth Connections counselor or SC Works coordinator to determine if you are eligible for financial aid to pay for registration, course and testing fees.
- Meet with an ESL instructor if registering for ESL classes.
- Make arrangements to complete the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education)
- Receive information about class schedules
After completing your registration:
- You will attend an Orientation/Intake session when offered for the current session
- You will complete a TABE pre-test
- You will begin classes

We offer in-person instruction in the mornings in Seneca and in the evenings in Westminster.

1. Fill out a registration form online. Use Google Chrome to translate the form to your language.

2. Attend one of the following walk-in sessions to take a placement test and view the orientation.

Q: I was unable to start in August. What can I do to attend the next class?
A: Complete the Online Application and book an appointment to take your placement test with this link. Online booking is available from August 25, 2025 - February 24, 2026. Please note that the online scheduler does not allow you to book a testing appointment more than two weeks in advance. If none of the available time slots fit your schedule, or if all slots are full, please email Carla Rogers (crogers1@sdoc.org) to arrange an alternative appointment no later than the Wednesday before the scheduled class start date.
Q: Is financial assistance available to pay for English classes?
A: Yes. People who receive services through SC Works, SNAP or other government programs may qualify for assistance to pay for classes. Contact Carla Rogers (crogers1@sdoc.org) for more information.Q: When does the English course begin?
A: Fall semester starts August 11, 2025. Students may also start on the following dates.- August 11, 2025

Please note: Students who start after August will join the class in progress and will not begin from the from chapter 1. Students who join the course in the middle of the school year will be more successful if they already know some basic English, such as numbers, colors, and the alphabet.
Q: Can a new student start English class anytime?
A: No. New students must first complete the online application and placement test. Then, they may start classes ONLY on the following dates:- August 11, 2025

- January 5, 2026
- March 2, 2026
Q: I will start class after August. Do I still get a free 4-day trial?
A: Yes. Every new student gets a free 4-day trial. Payment is due only if the student decides to continue on the fifth class day.Q: How much do the English classes cost?
A: The semester price of $75 includes $50 for the class and $25 for books (required). Students will only pay for books in their first semester. Payments are as follows:- Students starting August 11 will pay $75 for the fall semester and $50 for the Spring Semester.
- Students starting October 20 will pay $50 for a half-semester and $50 for the Spring Semester.
- Students starting January 5 will pay $75 for the spring semester.
- Students starting March 2 will pay $50 for a half semester.
Q: Can I buy the books only without paying the class fee?
No. The books are sold at a discount to registered students. All books can be purchased online at full price.Q: Do you offer online courses?
